Kit and packing checklist
Some of these come in our travel kit; the rest you pack yourself. Ask us which items your kit includes.
- Ihram — two sets for men, so one can be washed
- Ihram belt or waist pouch for passport, phone and money
- Unscented soap, shampoo, toothpaste and lotion
- Unscented petroleum jelly to prevent chafing on long walks
- Comfortable slippers or sandals, and a small bag to carry them in the masjid
- A small, light prayer mat
- Tasbih and a pocket dua book
- Group ID card or lanyard with your hotel and team numbers
- Daily medicines, with a doctor’s prescription
- Light, loose cotton clothes, and a shawl or light jacket for cool evenings and air-conditioned halls
- An umbrella for the sun
- A refillable water bottle
- Phone charger and power bank
- Copies of your passport, visa and ticket, kept apart from the originals
Ihram basics
Practical tips only. For the rules of ihram, ask our team or a scholar you trust.
For men
Two plain, unstitched white sheets — one wrapped at the waist, one over the shoulders. Practise wrapping it at home before the journey.
For women
There is no special ihram garment. Wear modest, loose, comfortable clothes that you can walk and pray in easily.
When flying from Mumbai
The flight crosses the miqat before it lands in Jeddah, so many men change at home or at the airport. Your group guide tells everyone when to make the intention.
Go unscented
Pilgrims avoid perfume while in ihram, so pack unscented soap, shampoo and lotion before you leave home.
Walk-ready footwear
You will walk a lot. Choose simple slippers or sandals and wear them for a few days at home first.
