How the Umrah visa works now

The Umrah visa is an electronic visa linked to your passport. Indian pilgrims apply for it through an authorised agent connected to the Saudi system, together with their hotel and transport bookings.

As reported for the 2026–27 season, hotel and transport in Saudi Arabia must be booked through the Nusuk platform before the visa can be issued. In simple words: bookings first, visa second.

Saudi rules for Umrah visas change from season to season, sometimes at short notice. Everything here is as reported at the time of writing. Our team confirms the current rules when you apply.

Key rules reported for 2026–27

  • Apply through an authorised agent, not through unofficial middlemen
  • Hotel and transport booked through Nusuk before the visa is issued
  • The visa to be used for entry within about 30 days of issue; an unused visa may lapse
  • Last date for visa issue: around 9 March 2027
  • Last date to enter Saudi Arabia on an Umrah visa: around 23 March 2027
  • Last date for Umrah pilgrims to leave Saudi Arabia: around 7 April 2027
  • Umrah visas are not issued during the Hajj period; the next season is expected to open after Hajj

These dates are as reported and may move. Try to travel well before the last dates, as flights and visas get busy near the end of the season.

Processing time and when to apply

Processing time varies with the season, the number of applications and how complete your documents are. Some visas come through quickly; at busy times it can take longer.

Because the visa is reported to be valid for entry for only about 30 days, it is applied for close to your travel date, once your bookings are fixed. Keep your documents ready early so there is no last-minute rush.

If your travel dates change after the visa is issued, tell us at once. Depending on the rules, a new visa may be needed.

Women and children

  • Rules for women travelling without a mahram have been relaxed in recent seasons, as reported. Ask us about the current position before booking, and speak to your scholar about the religious side.
  • Every child, including an infant, needs a separate passport and visa.
  • A birth certificate and both parents’ passport copies are usually needed for children.
  • If a child travels without one or both parents, a consent letter may be asked for.
  • Pregnant women should check with their doctor and the airline about travel rules.

What we handle for you

  • Checking your passport, photos and documents before submission
  • Booking hotel and transport through Nusuk, as the rules require
  • Submitting your visa application through the authorised process
  • Telling you the current rules, dates and vaccination requirements for your travel month
  • Keeping you updated until your visa is issued
